Summer Vacation Program
As a Summer Vacationer, you will gain practical, hands-on experience in the penultimate year of your accounting degree. Our placements commence in November or January of each year, and are between 3-4 weeks in length.
Once you have completed your Summer Vacation Program, you may be offered a full-time Graduate role with us.
Once you graduate from your accounting degree, you will gain broad experience across our five services – you won’t be put through set rotations. You will join us as a permanent employee following the completion of your studies.

Good grades are important, but we are more interested in highly motivated, well-rounded students who are involved in extra-curricular activities and have a keen interest in the work we do.
We work closely with our clients to understand their business needs, therefore strong communication skills are essential. We also work closely in a team environment, so we look for students with a strong team focus, who can work collaboratively with others.
You can still apply to our Graduate Program within 18 months of finishing your studies.

To be eligible for our Graduate and Summer Vacation Programs you must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of submitting your application, and be completing a business or commerce degree with a major in accounting.
To be eligible for the Summer Vacation Program, you must be in the penultimate year of your accounting degree at the time of submitting your application.
To be eligible for the Graduate Program, you must be in the final year of an accounting degree, or within 18 months of finishing your studies.

As a Vacationer you will attend a comprehensive induction training course to set you up for success during your placement. Throughout your time with McGrathNicol you will have access to employees at all levels as well as Partners. You will work alongside some of the best practitioners in the industry and will learn firsthand exactly what it would be like working with McGrathNicol as a Graduate.
As a Graduate, you will attend professional development training in Melbourne. This interactive course outlines the professional development opportunities available for Graduates, as well the professional practice standards adopted by McGrathNicol. The course provides an opportunity to network with fellow colleagues from around the country. In addition, employees have a number of external training courses they can attend throughout the year, such as business writing skills, IT training, time management, communication and presentation skills, and client interviewing skills.
